The Association of Entrepreneurs and the University of Vigo join efforts to promote excellence and attract research talent in Ourense

The Institutes of Physics and Aerospace Sciences and Agroecology and Food of the University of Vigo will present themselves at the San Cibrao Entrepreneurs Association

That in Ourense you can investigate without the need to look for a future abroad is a premise that was repeated this morning at the San Cibrao Business Association. The Institutes of Physics and Aerospace Sciences (IFCAE) and Agroecology and Food were presented at its facilities, which were born on the Ourense Campus of the University of Vigo with the firm purpose of promoting excellence and attracting research talent in the province.

The business entity and the University join hands with this same objective and this was expressed by the president of the business entity, José Antonio Rodríguez Araujo: “We must continue collaborating with the University and create synergies that allow us to promote effective strategies in an increasingly labor market. more and more demanding.”

The rector of the University of Vigo, Manuel Reigosa, also alluded to the need to continue joining efforts with the San Cibrao Entrepreneurs Association and stressed that the two institutes “have projects of the highest level” and that they were born due to the “large number of talent and work that there is in the Campus of Ourense”.

He also proposed the creation of specific conferences in the Association of Entrepreneurs with the participation of companies to form working groups: “This is an excellent place to carry them out.”

With some of the companies in this business area, projects are already being carried out that will be benchmarks and the directors of the institutes that were announced today referred to some of them.

David Fernández Calviño, director of the Institute of Agroecology and Food, assured that he had some of the best scientists in the world and stressed that one of the main objectives that they pursue with their work is to help the transition process towards a capable agri-food system with their research. to ensure and offer healthy, safe and resilient food.

This institute currently has 17 lines of research and among its next challenges is the creation of a portfolio of services to support the business sector. He mentioned some of the projects in which his researchers are immersed, such as the creation of a cheese made with vegetable enzymes, suitable for people with different intolerances.

The Institute of Physics and Aerospace Sciences is constituted as an R+D+i unit of the University of Vigo specialized in research of excellence and effective transfer in the fields of physics and aerospace sciences.

It is made up of a multidisciplinary team of more than 40 researchers including physicists, aeronautical engineers, computer engineers, industrial engineers and mathematicians.

Its director, Ángel Paredes, explained that its main objective is to channel research activity, support it and create synergies, while at the same time becoming a benchmark in Galicia for the transfer of knowledge in these areas.

Among its ongoing projects, the one that collaborates with Copasa stands out for the inspection of tracks through a laser technique.

Paredes thanked the San Cibrao Entrepreneurs Association for their collaboration in publicizing his work and highlighted the recent addition of Yolanda López, manager of the business entity, to the board of directors of the Institute of Physics and Aerospace Sciences.
