The work-life balance grants for reduced working hours in Galicia 2026 aim to promote shared responsibility in childcare, prioritising the participation of men in caregiving within opposite-sex couples. This measure is co-funded by the European Union under the FSE+ Galicia 2021-2027 programme, with a total budget of 618,840.84 euros for the 2026 call.
The call is governed by the Order of 9 July 2026, under procedure code SI440A.
Who can apply for these grants?
Eligible beneficiaries are employees (working for either a private company or a public administration) who meet the following requirements:
- Be registered as a resident in Galicia.
- Have reduced their working hours by at least 12.5% to care for a child during the period between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2026.
- Be living with the child during the subsidised period.
- The household income must not exceed 7 times the IPREM for 2025.
The child must be under 3 years of age, or under 12 years of age if they have a recognised disability of 33% or more.
Who has priority access to these grants?
The programme prioritises men as beneficiaries in the case of opposite-sex couples, as a measure to promote shared responsibility. However, the following groups can also access this grant:
- Women in single-parent families.
- Both members of same-sex couples.
- Parents in shared custody situations.
How much funding is available?
The grant amount depends on the percentage of working hour reduction and the number of children. The amounts shown correspond to 8 months of reduction and are calculated proportionally for shorter periods.

The application period is one month from the date of publication in the DOG, running from 24 July to 24 August 2026.
Applications must be submitted electronically through the Xunta de Galicia’s electronic office at sede.xunta.gal, using procedure code SI440A.
Frequently asked questions
Can a mother apply if she has a male partner?
In the case of opposite-sex couples, the programme prioritises the man as beneficiary. Women in heterosexual couples are not the priority profile, although the call covers other situations such as single-parent families or shared custody.
What if the reduction period is less than 8 months?
The grant amount is calculated proportionally to the actual period of reduction, provided it represents at least 12.5% of the working hours.
